  • APPROVAL: This toilet seemed to meet his requirements

VIDEOS comparing the merits of Folkestone's public toilets have been posted on YouTube.

The five clips, which last for between 30 and 40 seconds, each briefly show the interior of a cubicle, then the camera pans down to watch the flush.

One of the videos, called simply Toilet in Folkestone, clearly meets the cameraman's approval as he gives a thumbs-up at the end of the clip. A comment from one viewer simply says: "Weirdest setup I have ever seen." It is unclear whether he is referring to the toilet in question or the videos themselves.

The man who recorded the clips, identified as Dan, wrote: "I film toilets across Kent and Sussex but when I go on holiday I will film toilets elsewhere like other countries and Riegions (sic).

"My (YouTube) channel is for those who like toilets and plumbing and enthusiasts and any non-toilet fans who watch the videos, please show respect and don't waste my time with arguments.

"I have an interest in plumbing."

Earlier this year Dan visited Dymchurch with his "other half" to review the toilets there, but he has also travelled to other coastal resorts including Eastbourne, Hastings and Torquay.

Other clips not featuring Folkestone have comments from Dan including: "I love the side cisterns, twisty pipes and great flushes," "The flush is very poor, I really can't see the point in why they replaced the high cisterns," and: "It has a swirly flush."

The five Folkestone videos, called Toilets in the park in Folkestone, Toilets in Folkestone 1 and 2, Toilet at the Seafront Folkestone and Toilet at Folkestone bus station have so far attracted 37 views and eight likes.
