PLANS for a new Morrisons supermarket on land around Victoria Road went on display last week.

About 150 people turned up to view the plans which were exhibited by Henry Davidson Developments on Friday and Saturday at Victoria Road Primary School.

The developers plan to build nine two-bedroom flats alongside the supermarket.

A planning application is expected to be submitted to Ashford Borough Council early in the new year.

Harvey Lay of Henry Davidson Developments said: "We were very pleased that the exhibition was well attended by over 150 people and the feedback received was overwhelmingly positive with many of those attending looking forward to Morrisons coming to Ashford.

"The significant majority of visitors supported the redevelopment of the site and the provision of a new foodstore in Ashford. We are now reviewing the detailed comments made and preparing the planning application which we expect to submit to Ashford Borough Council early in 2014."
