POLICE officers have confirmed a body has been found on a Shepway beach this afternoon.

The emergency services were called to Princes Parade in Seabrook, Hythe, at 3.42pm after a member of the public discovered the body of a man on the beach.

The section of the beach has been taped off and an investigation has been launched into the death.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “The death is being treated as unexplained at this time, with officers at the scene making enquiries.

“Efforts are being made to formally identify the man and inform his next of kin.”

A witness said: “There is quite a lot of police here – there is a body on the beach.

“The police have covered the body up, and have asked for people to stay away. One passer-by was visibly upset by the discovery.”
